My biography
Convinced that music is a communication that may apply to everyone in the simplicity of everyday language, Belgian pianist Mireille Gleizes (Temse, 1956) built a sensitive and exploratory repertoire in which new consonant music plays a central role. First Prize at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium), she continued her studies at the Conservatory of Minsk (USSR), graduating senior with the highest distinction after studying with Mikhail Faerman (First Prize Queen Elisabeth in 1975). In the same time she developed her virtuosity, meditation gave her this unique approach of silence so characteristic of her expressiveness.
This extraordinary combination of virtuosity and sensitivity opened the door to a vast repertoire ranging from Johannes Sebastian Bach to Alfred Schnittke, and including many contemporary composers attached to a direct communication with the audience: Frédéric Devreese, Dominique Dupraz, Piotr Lachert, Michel Lysight, Gilberto Mendes, Georgs Pelecis, Alexander Shchetinsky amongst many others. Many works were dedicated to her and she performed many world premieres, recitals and recordings in Europe, the United States, Canada and Latin America.
Mireille Gleizes worked at the School of Arts of the Hogeschool Gent (Belgium). She performs as a soloist and within chamber ensembles. She has played with the Russian violinist Mikhail Bezverkhny (First Prize Queen Elizabeth in 1976), with the Brazilian pianist Eduardo Antonio, with the Israeli violist Michael Kugel, with the German violinist Marc Lubotski and with the Belgian orchestra I Fiamminghi conducted by Rudolph Werthen.
Convaincue que la musique est une communication qui peut s’adresser à chacun dans la simplicité d’un langage usuel, la pianiste belge Mireille Gleizes (Temse, 1956) développe un répertoire de sensibilité et de découverte où la nouvelle musique consonante occupe un rôle central. Premier Prix du Conservatoire Royal de Gand (Belgique), elle poursuivit sa formation au Conservatoire de Minsk (URSS) et obtint son diplôme supérieur avec la plus haute distinction après avoir étudié avec Mikhaïl Faerman (Premier Prix Reine Elisabeth 1975). Parallèlement au développement de sa virtuosité, la méditation lui confèrera cette approche particulière du silence si caractéristique de son expressivité.
Cette extraordinaire combinaison de virtuosité et de sensibilité lui ouvrira les portes d’un vaste répertoire allant de Jean-Sébastien Bach à Alfred Schnittke, et intégrant de nombreux compositeurs contemporains attachés à une communication directe au public : Frédéric Devreese, Dominique Dupraz, Piotr Lachert, Michel Lysight, Gilberto Mendes, Georgs Pelecis, Alexander Shchetinsky et bien d’autres. De nombreuses pièces lui furent dédiées et elle en assura de nombreuses créations mondiales, exécutions et enregistrements en Europe, aux États-Unis, au Canada et en Amérique Latine.
Mireille Gleizes a travaillé à la School of Arts de Hogeschool Gent (Belgique). Elle se produit tant comme soliste qu’au sein de formations de chambre. Elle a notamment joué avec le violoniste russe Mikhaïl Bezverkhny (Premier Prix Reine Élisabeth 1976), avec le pianiste brésilien Antonio Eduardo, avec l’altiste israélien Michael Kugel, avec le violoniste allemand Marc Lubotski ou encore avec l’orchestre belge I Fiamminghi dirigé par Rudolph Werthen.
